AIGA, the professional association for design, is the premier place for design—to discover it, discuss it, understand it, appreciate it, be inspired by it.

AIGA’s mission is to advance designing as a professional craft, strategic tool and vital cultural force. AIGA stimulates thinking about design through journals, conferences, competitions and exhibitions; demonstrates the value of design to business, the public and government officials; and empowers the success of designers at each stage of their careers by providing invaluable educational and social resources.

Founded in 1914, AIGA remains the oldest and largest professional membership organization for design. AIGA now represents more than 22,000 design professionals, educators and students through national activities and local programs developed by 64 chapters and 240 student groups. AIGA is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) educational institution.

The AIGA Design Legends Gala is an annual fundraising event honoring those whose work inspires designers of all ages, sets the bar for creativity and innovation, and defines the design profession as we know it. Funds raised at the Gala benefit the AIGA Design Archives, Worldstudio AIGA Scholarships, initiatives to make the profession more inclusive and diverse, and the Legacy Campaign, an endowment to secure the future of AIGA.

AIGA 50 Books/50 Covers of 2008

Now in its 85th year, this time-honored competition aims to identify the 50 best-designed books and book covers of the past year. Chosen by a distinguished jury, all selections become part of the online AIGA Design Archives, a traveling exhibition that debuts at the AIGA National Design Center in New York, the physical collections of the Rare Book and Manuscript Library of Columbia University and the AIGA archives at the Denver Art Museum.

Books may be read, consulted and treasured for years, but this competition is the best way to ensure that your creative legacy will endure. If your work is selected, countless future designers and potential clients will have access to your work. This is your chance to live forever.
